A sensitive electric hygrometer devised by Prof. Shiba was utilized for continuous record-ing of human perspiration. Sweat on skin area of 20cm2 was evaporated by a constant stream of air, and the humidity of air flow, which was denoted by electric resistance of hygrometer, was registered continuously by ink-writer. The rate of sweating, calculated from the air flow, humidity and air temperature, was presented in the unit of mg/20cm2/ min.

At the sweat rate more than 1mg/20cm2/min., periodic changes of rate ranging 2 to 8 sec., most frequently 5 to 6 sec., were clearly observed. Simultaneous record of galvanic skin reflex has proved that the time lag of this method was at most within 1.5 sec.

Figures illustrating the effect of working and local cooling were also presented.
