Histopathology of myelodysplastic syndrome

現行のWHO分類に従って骨髄異形成症候群の診断を行うには，骨髄生検標本の病理組織学的検索も考慮しなければならない．骨髄生検標本は，HE染色，細網線維染色，鉄染色，必要であれば免疫組織化学的染色を行って，細胞密度，骨髄芽球を含めた造血細胞の増減・形態異常・分布異常，環状鉄芽球や微小巨核球などの異形巨核球，および線維化を含めた間質の異常の有無を判定する必要がある．

Histopathological examination of bone marrow biopsy specimens should be considered for making accurate diagnosis of MDS (myelodysplastic syndrome) based on the current WHO classification.　The biopsy provides materials for H-E (hematoxylin-eosin) stain, reticulin stain, iron stain, and immunohistochemical stain.　The important points for evaluating the histological specimens are as follows : cellularity, cell density and topography of myeloblast, ring sideroblast, dysplastic megakaryocyte, abnormal localization of immature cells, and stromal abnormality including fibrosis.
