Histological examination and diagnosis of uterine cervical cancer : An introduction of the newly revised terminology and criteria

わが国の子宮頸部病変の診療に大きな影響力をもつ「子宮頸癌取扱い規約」がこのたび10数年ぶりに改訂されることになった．大きな変更点のひとつに子宮頸部扁平上皮系異型病変の扱いがある．ことに境界病変と非浸潤癌に関する用語・定義に大幅な改変がなされる．従来からの異形成・上皮内癌(CIS)に変わって，CIN(子宮頸部上皮内腫瘍)が採用される．CINは1,2,3の3段階に分けられる．CIN3には従来の高度異形成とCISが含まれる．これらの改訂の意義を理解して日常診療に対応することが望まれる．

"The General Rules for Clinical and Pathological Management of Uterine Cervical Cancer" published by the respective scientific societies of Japan will be soon revised in accord with concepts with worldwide acceptance.　Concerning the terminology and definition of borderline and non-invasive neoplasia, CIN classification will be introduced instead of dysplasia/CIS system ; namely, mild, moderate and severe dysplasias and CIS.　In this classification both severe dysplasia and CIS are dealt with as one category, CIN3.　The relation between CIN grading and dysplasia/CIS will be discussed.
