New Visual Suppression Test Using Rotatory Stimulation (Rotatory Visual Suppression Test)

I．はじめに

　前庭性眼振が固視により抑制されるという現象は古くから知られている。1967年Hart^1）はこの現象を初めて臨床検査に応用した。彼は温度刺激反応により前庭性眼振を誘発し，小脳病変では固視により抑制されるどころかかえって増強を示すことを報告した。

　1970年Coats^2）も温度刺激反応により前庭性眼振を導き，脳幹腫瘍，脊髄小脳変性症患老において固視しても眼振が抑制されない現象をfailure of fixation-suppression（FFS）として報告している。

　Maccarioら^3）も1972年に脳幹，小脳のさまざまな病変について同様の報告を行っている。

　Visual suppression test is a method to examine the function of visual fixation, and is used to diagnose the disturbance of visual fixation. But the test is often troublesome because caloric stimulation is too strong for patient who have afear of a vertiginous attack.

　We suggest a new visual suppression test using a rotatory stimulation which produces a milder stimulation than caloric stimulation. We confirmeda perfect correlation of this method with the caloric stimulation method except for the enhancement reaction.
