  • Look Inside

The chemotaxis in vivo and in vitro and superoxide production of neutrophils of the patients with various disorders in the nose or the sinus were investigated. The results were as follows: 1) The chemotaxis of neutrophils in vivo was impaired in the patients with maxillary cancers or T cell lymphoma. 2) The chemotaxis of neutrophils in vitro wasmuch lower in the patients with maxillary cancers, T cell lymphoma or Wegener's granulomatosis. 3) A study of superoxide production of neutrophils showed no significant difference in any disorders except for T cell lymphoma.

The authors assumed that study of functions of neutrophils in the patients with malignant diseases or Wegener's granulomatosis shows a good parameter indicating progression of the diseases and their vulnerability for infection.
