　I．はじめに

　耳鼻咽喉科領域において，異物は日常臨床上しばしば遭遇するものであるが，下咽頭・食道においては，その解剖学的および生理学的な特異性のため，異物の発見や摘出が困難な場合がある。筆者らは，尖鋭な食道異物が食道前壁を穿通して腔外異物となり，甲状軟骨に後方より刺入したため，部位診断が困難であった1症例を経験したので，報告する。

　A case of extra-esophageal foreign body was reported. A patient, 53-year-old woman, was admitted to our hospital with a pin in the esophagus. On x-ray studies, both antero-posterior and lateral projects, the pin seemed to penetrate the anterior esophageal wall. Surgery was done successfully with a lateral incision on the right neck, and the foreign body was found sticking into the posterior aspect of the thyroid cartilage.
