平衡機能検査よりみた突発性難聴の予後

EQUILIBRIUM TEST IN PATIENTS WITH SUDDEN DEAFNESS AS A PROGNOSTIC INDEX

　I．はじめに

　突発性難聴（以下突難と省略）にしばしばめまいを伴うことは良く知られた事実であるが，めまいあるいは平衡機能検査所見と突難の予後との関連について検討を加えたので報告する。

　Observation was made on 42 cases of sudden deafness treated at the ENT Department of the 2nd Tokyo National Hospital. Of 19 patients complaining of dizziness, 8 patients showed complete or partial improvement of their hearing (42.5%). On the other hand, 15 out of 23 patients without dizziness were recovered from deafness completely or partially (62.5%).

　The absence of gaze nystagmus of abnormal caloric test was associated with better prognosis. The relationship between sudden deafness, Ménière's disease, vestibular neuronitis and fluctuating hearing loss was discussed.
