  • Look Inside

A man, aged 26, was found to be affected with bilateral temporal bone cancer metastasized fromthe gastric cancer. Other clinical findings revealed hearing losses, gaze deviation nystagmus (Bruns' nystagmus) and canal peresis which were substantiated by autopsy.

The tumor mass measuring 3×3×2cm was found to be attached to the left cerebellopontine angle. The temporal bone sections revealed extradural growths of metastatic tumor in bilateral internal auditory meatus. The tumor cells were, also, found to be scattered in other parts of the meatus, encroaching into the cochlea through the tractus spiralis foraminosus. The spread of the tumor into the subarachnoid structures and the labyrinth was caused by leptomeningeal carcinosis.
