  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

In our previous study it was reported that the frequency of occurrence of each phoneme in adult conversation with and around children was almost stable among the ten subjects though the children's age differed from one to three years.

The changes in the frequency of occurrence of each phoneme in children's meaningful utterances were pursued from the age of one to four years in order to find when it came close to that of the adults.

The results showed that the frequency of occurrence of each phoneme in children's conversation gradually came closer to that of the adults and it got into ±3 SD of the adults' at the age of four.
