故意に嚥んだ食道・胃異物（割箸）症例

VOLUNTARY DEGLUTITION OF FOREIGN BODY (WARIBASHI)

　Ⅰ．緒言

　われわれ耳鼻咽喉科医が経験する食道・胃異物症例ではその異物嵌在（発生）の動機は誤嚥と考えられるものがほとんどである。成人はもちろんのこと，幼児においてもそれは誤嚥といわれるべきであろう。

　しかし，ここにきわめてまれに異物が故意に嚥み込まれる場合がある。精神病患者，自殺しようとする者，囚人などがこれである。

　A man, aged 24, voluntarily swallowed a chop-stick (waribashi) and it was successfully removed by means of esophagoscopy. The following points of interest are noted:

　In cases where voluntary swallowing of for-eign body occur there seem to be features that may be common to all.

　Stereoscopic x-ray was used with opaque agents for visualization of the foreign body.

　Jackson's esophagoscope was used without any complication of regurgitating gastric contents.
