The authors report a case of otitis media caused by intrusion of ascaris through the auditory tube. A girl, aged 3 was brought to the hospital with a complaint of right-sided earache. With the diagnosis of an acute otitis media the affected tympanum was in-cised and the patient was sent home. After which the parents reported the finding of an ascaris emerginig from that ear.

The present case, the authors state, is the 19 th of similar cases reported in the litera-ture of this country. The following conclu-sions are made from the review of these case :

(1) Ascaris borne acute otitis medias nume- rously occur in persons otherwise normal in health ; otitis of this type can not be diffentiated from that of ordinary cause.

(2) There is no relation between the morbi-dity of this disease and the number of ova or the adult worm harbored by theindividual host.

(3) Infants are more prone to be affected than otherwise.

(4) Male worms are more prevalent than females.
