Kawamura and Hatori repport a case that resulted in a marked bilateral loss of hearing and onset of tinnitus aurium following institution of diagnostic procedure of pnemo-encephalography. A man, aged 24, a recipient of traumatic-head injury showed residual cerebral symptoms that abatement for 100 days since that injury and the surgical procedure mentioned was decided to be adopted at this time.

The hearing in the left ear before the operation appeared to be in a condition near normal but, in the 4th month of postoperative period it began to show at first a rapid decline which gradually taperd off to some extent only to reach at the end the stage of a complete loss.

The authors believe that the underlying cause in the onset of these complications might be relegated to formation of air embolism provoking circulatory disturbances in the vascular supply of the inner ear : intracerebral changes spurred by the trauma to be the cause that led to conditions which allowed formation of air-embolism.
