Kawamura report a case of hearing loss a complication of sympathetic ophthalmia which required enucleation of both eyes.

The patient, a man aged 28, complained of tinnitus, impaired hearing, paracusis auris, ver-tigo and nausea and loss of balance. Vestibular tests showed lagging response on both sides. The head showed hair loss and degeneration of color but, no changes were noted on the skin in general by way of consistency or color. From neulogical point of view the find-ings were negative in spite of the fact that the patient complained of headaches, head noises and loss of memory. The author believes that labyrinthitis to be the cause of loss of hearing.
