Effect of Longitudinal Myelotomy on Experimental Spinal Cord Injury

Ⅰ．はじめに

　外傷性脊髄損傷に対し，現在まで，種々の治療法がこころみられているが，いずれも満足すべき結果は得られていない．しかし実験上はAllen^3）が脊髄損傷モデル犬を作製して以来，多数の研究者の努力により，その病態生理学的面のみならず，治療においても徐々にではあるが新知見が解明されつつある．

　現在，広くおこなわれている外科的治療としては，脊椎の整復固定，および外減圧が主な処置であるが，現実には，椎弓切除術，硬膜切開などでは充分な効果が得られないことも事実である．

The spinal cord of adult dogs was traumatized by the weight dropping method at the level of T9 or T10 A 20 gm weight was dropped 20 cm and 25 cm onto the impounder placed on the dura, producing a 400 and 500 gm-cm force injury respectively.

400 gm-cm contusion dogs could stand and walk with some staggering one month after trauma. This early recovery was thought to be too good to appreciate clinical recovery following treatment. Experimental dogs were, therefore, all injured by 500 gm cm force, resulting in complete paraplegia one month after trauma if no treat given.
