はじめに

　Craniopharyngiomaは良性の先天性腫瘍であるが，その発生部位が脳底深部であり，視床下部，下垂体，第Ⅲ脳室底等と密接な関係を有するため，極めて多彩な臨床症状を呈することが知られている，また，これらの臨床症状の基盤となる広範な内分泌障害は，部位による腫瘍全剔術の困難さと相俟って，本腫瘍患者の予後を甚だ不良なものにしている．

　新大脳神経外科教室においても，1941年より1970年末までの30年間に66例の本腫瘍を経験したのでこれをとりまとめ，特に内分泌，および水分・電解質代謝障害を中心に考察を加え報告する．

The clinical features of 66 patients suffering from craniopharyngioma are described with particular reference to endocrine abnormalities.

There are three main symptoms produced by craniopharyngioma: first, sypmtoms and signs of increased intracranial pressure clue to third ventricle occlusion; second, ocular symptoms and signs of optic pathways; and third, the symptoms and signs of pituitary hypo function and hypothalamic dysfunction clue to longstanding compression or invasion of the pituitary gland and hypothalamus.
