インシュリン・ショック療法の際,ひきおこされる低血糖性昏睡をとりあげ,その時みられる糖質代謝におよぼすγ-ABAの影響について種々の実験的観察を試み,該物質の脳代謝における役割の一端を知ろうとした。
The influence of γ-aminobutyric acid upon insulin-induced coma were investigated on schizophrenic patients.
1) Under morning fasting, a slight increase ofthe blood sugar value was caused through intravenous injection of γ-aminobutyric acid only:namely, an increase by 15mg/dl following 20c.c.10% γ-aminobutyric acid, and that by about 20mg/dl by 20c.c. of 20% γ-aminobutyric acid. A slightrecovery ranging from coma to lethargic statecould be brought about though temporarily.
2) Recovery effects from therapeutic insulin-induced coma were tested with various combinations of V. B6, ATP and glucose to the said acid. In case of γ-aminobutyric acid plus V. B6, therewere changes hardly observable; in case of combination with ATP any recovery of consciousnessstayed out beside an increase of the blood sugarvalue by about 20mg/dl.
Both in combination series of γ-aminobutyricacid with 10mg ATP+20ml 40% glucose and inanother combinations of these three with V. B6there occured a rapid elevation in the blood sugarvalues together with perfect recovery of consciousness clinically. But in the former case, the bloodsugar value went decreased gradually with thelapse of time pararell-going with re-entering of coma 20min. later; in the latter case, recovery of consciousness ensued even at 30min. atter injection.
