  • Look Inside

Recent progress of the study of the biological action and clinical application of hypothalamic corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) and growth hormone-releasing hormone (GRH) was demonstrated. Primary structure of CRH was identified from ovine hypothalamus and synthesized by Vale et al. in 1981. Homology of primary structure of hypothalamic CRH among ovine, sheep, rat and human as well as Sauvagine from African frog skin and Urotensin I from fish with the same a-helix coil structure were determined. CRH is found mainly in the neuron of the hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus extending the nerve fiber to the median eminence.
