Abstract

The culture systems of nerve cells are ideally suited to the detailed tracing of the development of excitable membrane. It is known that the bioelectric properties of the dorsal root ganglion (DRG) cells have changed in parallel with the morphological development. The resting membrane potential has increased while the specific membrane resistance has decreased during cell differentiation. A gradual increase in the resting potential is also observed in developing statoacoustic ganglion (SAG) cells in culture.
