  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Although numerous contributions have been made to the knowledge of the fiber connections of substantia nigra, significant sources and ter-minations remain obscure, or in debate.

The saggital serious section of the human brain suggested this object as advantages usfor a detailed investigation of points that re-main under discussion. The Pal-Weigert method allow any appreciation of the thin myelinated components of the substantia nigra.

The results are as follows: (1) The thin myelinated components of the pars rubra of the substantia nigra can se-parate three components in transverse section.

( 2) The medial components of the substan-tia nigra run from the mamillary nucleus.

(3) The midline components of the sub-stantia nigra receive fibers from the hypothala-mus. So the substantia nigra is related to va-rious autonomic functions.

( 4 ) The lateral components of the substan-tia nigra is connecting it with the corpus st-riatum, the strionigral tract.

(5) Many fibers from the subthalamic nuc-leris (copus Luysii) terminate within substan-tia nigra and the basis pedunculi.

( 6) The author found that the substantia nigra has fiber connections between various au-tonomic functions and extrapyramidal functi-ons. The substantia nigra is the center of the extrapyramidovegetatives nerven systems.
