A 46 years old man. The symptoms of phys-iologic transection of the cord suddenly develop-ed, following a fall onto his buttocks. Therewas a dissociated sensory loss in the segmentsat the level of C6~D12a complete sensory lossbelow the level of D12, a flaccid quadriplegia,and a paralysis of bladder and rectal function.In the early stages there was a intermittent feverwith anhydrosis, bradycardia and red dry skin.According to the characteristics of this feverand other negative findings, spinal hyperthermiawas revealed and the pathogenesis of spinalhyperthermia was discussed. In the later stagesa dissociated sensory loss became more complete,hematomyelia appeared to be a most agreeablediagnosis.
