はじめに

　神経系・内分泌系・免疫系の機能的な連関においてメディエーターとして重要な役割を果たしているのが，サイトカインである。免疫系の細胞のみならず，神経系の細胞もサイトカインを産生し，特異的なリセプターを介して様々な脳機能に関与している。本稿では，とくに神経系に対する作用が注目されているIL-6 familyのサイトカインとgp130-subfamilyの受容体に焦点をあて，その脳内分布や脳における役割について概説し，さらに新規のサイトカイン受容体の探索の試みについて述べる。

Functional receptor complexes for interleukin-6 (IL-6) family cytokines share gp130 as a component critical for signal transduction. The distribution of the receptor components for these cytokines, such as gp130, LIF-Rβ, IL-6-Rα, have been investigated in murine brains. In the cerebellum, Purkinje cells expressed these receptor components. Overexpression of leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) in mice led to a reduction in calbindin-immunoreactive dendrites of Purkinje cells.
