  • Look Inside

Dystonia is a syndrome of sustained muscle contractions, frequently causing twisting and repetitive move-ments, or abnormal postures. It is classified with its cause, onset age, or the distribution of the involved body parts. Among them, the distribution of dystonia is the most important from the therapeutic viewpoint, and most of the adult-onset cases are presented as focal or segmental dystonia.

As a focal therapy of focal or segmental dystonia, the intramuscular injection of botulinum toxin has become a first line procedure in many countries.
