  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

We have already reported the possible participation of PKC activation in the occurrence of chronic vasospasm after subarachnoid hemorrhage, from the following experimental evidences. Transclivally exposed basilar artery (Day 7) of beagle dog, subjected to two-hemorrhage, was significantly dilated by superfusion with Krebs solution containing H-7 or Staurospoine, a PKC inhibitor, but was uninfluenced by that containing classic antagonist, calmodulin antagonist (W-7, R24571) or calcium channel blocker (Nicardipine). Futhermore, 1, 2-diaclyglycerol (DAG) content of basilar artery began to significantly increase on Day 2 and stayed at the level until Day 7.
