How has been revealed human sensing function for odors? In this report, we are surveying and discuss the update imaging methods by which the information processing to perception and recognition of human olfaction have been obtained in our brain. At the first, the response of olfactory evoked potential(OEP)and its imaging to sensing odors are introduced. Next, the imaging of functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI), positron emission tomography(PET)and magnetoencephalography(MEG)which we are using to measure the sensing odors are also explained. Especially, olfactory centers for sensing and discrimination of odors are specified, and active areas related to the cognition of odors are fined in the brain. And, active olfaction by using sniffing method, ”emotional”responses for odors using event-related potential(ERP)and magnetic field(ERMF), ill-posed inverse problems, and a future view for non-invasive imaging method of sensing odors are still more discussed.
