  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Neurons in the prefrontal cortex show responses during presentation of visual cue stimuli in behavioral tasks. Those responses have relatively short latencies. When the same behavioral conditions were repeated, the responses are time locked to the onsets of the visual stimuli. In addition, they are often selective to the attributes of the visual stimuli, such as color, shape or location in the visual field. From these facts, these activities have properties to define as a visual response. Activities during the delay period could be also related to the visual images, since monkeys may retain the visual images of the cue stimuli to perform the task correctly.
