はじめに

　CTはその登場以来，中枢神経系の診断に大きな役割を果たしてきた。MRIの登場後一時的にその中心的役割を失いつつあったが，ヘリカルスキャンの登場とともに再び臨床的重要性が増大した。その最大の利点は，それまでのスライスごとではなく，臓器全体をボリュームデータとして得ることにあった¹⁾。これにより断面変換（multiplanar reconstruction：MPR）や各種の三次元画像処理が可能となったのである。さらにその後のマルチスライスCTの開発により，その臨床応用は再び拡大した。本稿では，最新のマルチスライスCTの開発状況と，その中枢神経系への応用について報告する。

Abstract

　Invention of helical scan had introduced the concept of volumetric imaging. Ratest 64-rows multislice CT has made it possible to obtain high quality 3D CT angiography images in few seconds. In addition tomorphological images of CNS (central nervous system),multislice CT provides functional information suchas cerebral perfusion. Further advancement has been anticipated by the introduction of 256-rows areadetector CT. Numbers of new applications such as dynamic 3D CT angiography,3D CT-DSA (digitalsubtraction angiography),whole brain CT perfusion are expected to be in clinical use by area detector CT.
