We have conducted new transurethral resection of the prostate (TURF) using WEDGE™loop for 43 benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). New TURP had advantages in much less operative bleeding and shorter period of postoperative indwelling baloon catheter than conven-tional TURP with comparable clinical usefulness. How-ever, operative and postoperative complications includ-ing perforation of the prostatic capsule, urethral stricture and postoperative bleeding were noted in 6 (15.4%) patients. New TURP is less invasive than conventional TURP and suitable for a transurethral surgery for BPH.
