　43例の前立腺肥大症に対して新しい幅広型切除ループを用いた経尿道的前立腺切除術（TURP）を施行し，その臨床効果について検討した。術後3か月および6か月における各種パラメーターは，IPSS-QOL,IPSS，最大尿流量率，推定前立腺体積ともに術前に比べて有意に改善した（p＜0.01〜0.0001）。術後の総合臨床効果についてみると，有効以上（著効と有効）は術後3か月（32例）では74.2％，6か月（9例）では66.7％，やや有効以上（著効，有効とやや有効）はそれぞれ87.1％と100％であった。合併症は43例中6例（13.9％）に認められた。前立腺肥大症に対するminimally invasive surgeryの1つとして本ループを用いたTURPは有用な方法と思われる。

We have conducted new transurethral resection of the prostate (TURF) using WEDGE^™loop for 43 benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). New TURP had advantages in much less operative bleeding and shorter period of postoperative indwelling baloon catheter than conven-tional TURP with comparable clinical usefulness. How-ever, operative and postoperative complications includ-ing perforation of the prostatic capsule, urethral stricture and postoperative bleeding were noted in 6 (15.4%) patients. New TURP is less invasive than conventional TURP and suitable for a transurethral surgery for BPH.
