  • Look Inside

We experienced two patients with renal cell carcinoma who had renal dysfunction in the contralateral kidney. By using 99mTc-DMSA renal scintigraphy, we estimated, preoperatively, the remnant renal function at partial nephrectomy. The measured values of DMSA renal uptake were lower than the predicted ones at one month after operation. But the measured values coincided with the predicted ones within the error of 10% over four months. This method was considered to be useful for the estimation of remnant renal function at partial nephrectomy.
