  • Look Inside

Pathological autopsy was carried out in 70 cases of bladder cancer during the past 25 years from 1960 to 1984 at the Jikei University Hospital. Metastasis of bladder cancer was observed in 45 (64.5%) of the cases. When the incidence of metastasis was determined according to histopathological diagnosis, it was high in cases of undifferentiated transitional cell carcinoma and in those involved by elements other than transitional cell carcinoma. In regard to the organ metastasis, the incidence was highest in the lymph nodes (48.6%), followed by the lungs (42.9%), liver (37.1%), bone (27.1%), and adrenal grands (15.7%) in that order.
