Ⅰ．緒言

　水腎症は，われわれ泌尿器科医が毎日のごとくに経験する症候であるが，その内容液が非常に多量となつたものは比較的まれであり，さらに1000ml．以上の，いわゆる巨大水腎症はめずらしい。

　今回，われわれも本症の1例を経験したのでその症例を報告し，あわせて，1958年より1967年の10年間の本邦における報告例の統計的考察を試みた。

Giant hydronephrosis, with the content exceeding 1000ml, is rare even hydronephrosis in a common finding.

Case is a 27 years old female without any urological complaints, whose left hydronephrosis was discovered accidentally by arteriography during admission to the medical ward for aphasia. The size of the removed kidney was 25.5×17×5cm and the content was 1145ml.

There are approximately 200 reported cases of such disease in the Japanese literature since Miyata's report in 1912 and within the 10 years between 1958 and 1967, 103 cases including our case has been reported.
