Two cases of keratolysis plantare sulcatum are reported. The first case is a Japanese man aged 26 and the second case is a Japanese man aged 40. They complained of having asymptomatic numerous superficial erosions of the horny layer on their feet. Biopsy specimens show a superficial infection of the skin confined to the stratum corneum. The filamentous and coccoid elements are seen in the first case, and the only coccoid body is seen in the second ease. The organisms are grampositive, argyrophilic and are stained with hematoxylin. Keratolysis plantare sulcatum has been frequently reported from tropical climates. There is no report of the disease in Japan. It is thought the disease probably has a wide distribution in, Japan.
