  • Look Inside

Clinical studies on this disorder of 16 cases were reported.

(1) Burn in almost all cases was due to direct exposure to fire. Almost all of them had to be treated for a long time (from 3 to 11 months).

(2) The time from burn to onset of carcinoma was various (from 16 to 70 years). In 2 cases which started carcinoma within 20 years after burn the degree of burn was so severe that it was accompanied with osteomyelitis.

(3) Erythema, erosion and rhagades seemed to preceed the onset of carcinoma.

(4) Predilection sites were the knee, lower leg and scalp.

(5) The results of treatment by beam of electrons of betatron and/or operation were sufficient. In 2 cases of recurrence treatment with betatron showed good results.

(6) Lymph node metastases of carcinoma were found in 2 cases at patients' first visit, whowere cured of them by beam of electrons of betatron.

(7) One very severe case was treated by local irrigation of an anticarcinogenic agent and died in a short course.

(8) The results of local irrigation method seem to depend on kinds of anticarcinogenic agents which are applied. Further investigations are necessary on them.
