Gas Phlegmon in the Neck probably due to Anaerobe:Report of a Case

はじめに

　今回われわれは，非常に急速かつ重篤な症状を呈した頸部蜂窩織炎の1例を，抗生物質の投与，すみやかな排膿などで治癒せしめたので，本疾患における対処を含めて報告する。

A 55-year-old man visited our outpatient clinic complaining of pain and a swelling of the neck. The signs and symptoms consisted of dysphagia, trismus, massive cervical swelling extending bilate-rally from the mandible to the clavicle, crepitance within the soft tissue, and foul smell. Soft tissue x-ray films of the neck revealed gas formation. He was treated immediately with antibiotics, surgical drainage, and removal of necrotized tissue, and recovered 8 days after the onset of the disease. An anaerobic infection was suspected but no responsible anaerobe was identified.
