　I．はじめに

　Press Through Pack包装薬剤（以下PTPと略す）による食道異物症は，疾患予防や治療の目的で服用した薬剤の包装材によって生じる極めて特異な異物症である。本症は薬剤がPTP包装されるようになった時期に一致してみられるようになり，本邦では1970年迎ら^1）による2例の報告を嚆矢として，以後多くの症例が報告されている。そしてPTP誤嚥の予防法について，いくつかの案が提唱されているにもかかわらず，報告例はわずかであるが年々増加の傾向がみられる^2〜4）。当科でも1987年から1993年までの約7年間に17例のPTP食道異物症例を経験したので，症例を供覧して，若干の考察を加えて報告する。

Seventeen cases of esophageal foreign body due to accidental ingestion of PTP (press through package) were reported. The patients were 8 male and 9 female. Thirteen cases were above 65 years of age. Plentifulness of prescribed drugs was thought to be one of the causes of PTP in-gestion; 4 patients had been taking more than 7 kinds of drugs. Preopertive observation of the same drug as the foreign body was useful for an adequate operative maneuver. Most of the cases were treated by direct esophagoscopy under gen-eral anesthesia. Nasogastric tube feeding was useful for preventing postoperative complications.
