The purpose of present study was, firstly, to report the clinical courses of temporay hearing loss in three young women who attended a rock-and-roll music concert. and secondly to study eighteen cases of rock music hearing loss and eight cases of acute acoustic trauma retrospectively.

In the cases of rock music hearing loss, the unilateral or bilateral ears were suffered regardless of the direction of sound source. The subjective symptoms were tinnitus, fullness of ear and de-creased hearing with C5 dip and 2,000 Hz dip. The hearing level in the younger subjects returned to normal within one week, while a permanent hearing loss was observed in the elderly subjects.

In the majority of cases of acute acoustic trauma, unilateral car close to the sound source was affe-cted irreversibly and non-characteristic audio-grams were obtained.
