SAPHO syndrome is a rare clinical entity, defined in 1987 gathering together with the following symptoms:Synovitis, Acne, Pustulosis, Hyperostosis, and Osteitis. The etiology has been thought to be induced by focal infection.

A 26-year-old woman presented with pain on the sterno-costo-clavicular joint and lumbago on the first visit at our hospital, who had been diagnosed of palmoplantar pustulosis. Because any pharmaceutics had not shown to be effective, she underwent bilateral tonsillectomies. Three months after the operation, she was free from painful symptoms. Thus the tonsillectomy is found to be a successful treatment for SAPHO syndrome.
