Congenital dermoid cysts of the nose are relatively rare. They usually present at birth or in the first few months of life. The usual location is midline, overlying the nasal bones, often causing depression and distortion of the nasal framework.

A 5-year-old girl visited our hospital for treatment of nasal obstruction and nasal discharge during six months. She was found white hairs grew from mucous membrane on the right lateral nasal wall. Nasal fiberscopy revealed that these white hairs seemed to grow from mucous membrane on a swelling of the right lateral nasal wall. CT showed that these hairs were in the small low density area in the thickened nasal membrane of the right nasal agger, and there was no deformity of the nasal framework. The mucosal swelling with white hairs was suspected as a nasal dermoid cyst.

The tumor was removed with normal mucous membrane from the lateral nasal wall by endonasal endoscopic surgery. There was no tumor and demonstrated extention into the maxillary sinus or the region of the nasal septum. Histologically, dermoid cyst containing white hairs was diagnosed.
