受動式乗員保護装置であるエアバッグ作動後に生じた眼外傷の1例

Ocular trauma by driver's air-bag

　エアバッグにより強打されて引き起こされたと考えられた眼外傷を報告した。症例は24歳男性で，シートベルト無着用の状態でエアバッグに右側顔面，眼部を強打し，網膜振盪症，前房出血などの眼所見を呈した。眼傷害を予防するため，エアバッグ自体の危険性，安全基準の検討が肝要かと思われる。また交通事故でエアバッグが開いた症例には，眼科医は眼傷害の存在を考えて，眼科的検査を行うことが重要であると考える。

A 24-year-old male collided into a solid roadsidefence while driving. He was not wearing harnessbelt. He was struck by the inflated air-bag in theright eye, resulting in multiple facial wound, sub-conjunctival hemorrhage, inflammation in the ante-rior chamber with hyphema. Funduscopy showedcommotio retinae in the right eye. To our bestknowledge, this is the first reported case of oculartrauma during a motor vehicle accident protectedby an air-bag in Japan. We advocate ophthal-mological examination and follow-up in all motorvehicle crushes after air-bag inflation.
