　真性小眼球（nanophthalmos）に併発したuveal effusion syndromeの2眼2症例を治療した。いずれも女性で，年齢は各72歳と36歳であった。両症例とも強膜開窓術に抵抗し，硝子体手術が奏効した。1眼では人工的に後部硝子体剥離を作製するのが困難であり，これが作製できた部位のみに網膜剥離が軽減した。他の1眼では2回目の硝子体手術ではじめて後部硝子体剥離を完全に作製でき1シリコーンオイル下で網膜が復位した。本症候群では，網膜に強固に接着した粘稠性の高い硝子体が病態に関与していることが推定された。

We treated two eyes of two cases of nanophthalmos associated with uveal effusion syndrome. Both werefemales aged 72 and 36 years respectively. Retinal detachment in both cases underwent vitrectomy after sclerectomy hadproved futile. In one eye, it was difficult to create artificial posterior vitreous detachment (PVD). The retina becamereattached only in areas of partial PVD. In the other eye, complete PVD could be created during the second vitrectomyand the retina became reattached after silicone oil injection. These findings show that highly viscous vitreous with taut attachment to the retina plays a major role in the pathogenesis of this syndrome.
