両眼同時小切開白内障手術を施行したダウン症候群の1例

Bilateral small-incision cataract surgery in a case with Down syndrome

　ダウン症候群の25歳男性の両眼白内障に対し，全身麻酔下で小切開白内障手術と後房レンズ挿入を行った。術式として，耳側輪部強角膜1面切開を選択した。術後経過は良好で，日常生活と視行動が著しく改善した。白内障術後の眼球保護のため、保護シールドの装用が有効であった。

We performed small-incision cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation in both eyes of a 25-year-old male with Down syndrome. We used temporal limbal sclerocorneal one-plane incision under general anesthesia. The postoperative course was uneventful with improved visual activity and quality of life. Protective shields were useful during the postoperative period.
