  • Look Inside

We treated 13 eyes with cataract and open-angle glaucoma by combined self-sealing phacoemul-sification and trabeculectomy with trabeculotomy. The follow-up period ranged from 6 to 15 months, median 8.7 months. Corrected visual acuity of 0.5 or better was achieved in 11 eyes, 85%, at 6 months after surgery. Surgically induced astigmatism was minimum and stabilized within 2 to 3 months postoperatively. Intraocular pressure of 21 mmHg or less without medication was attained in all the eyes and averaged 9.9 mmHg. Visible bleb was present at 6 months in 12 eyes, 92%. Above results show the safety and efficacy of our combined surgical procedure for cataract and glaucoma.
