We reviewed a consecutive series of 515 eye injuries during sports activity during the 15-year -period through 1989. A total of 1907 eye injuries were seen during the same period. Flying ball wasthe cause of eye injury in 442 cases, 86%. Baseball, soccer, softball and tennis accounted for 90% of these ball injuries. Severe fundus lesions were more common after ball injury by baseball and soccer. Superior fundus lesion was frequent after injury by soccer ball and inferior lesion was frequent after injury by baseball. Incidence of lens luxation and orbital fracture was low in eye injuries by flying ball in general.
