ヒト白内障の水晶体上皮細胞増殖能の混濁部位からみた検討

Growth potential of lens epithelial cells in relation to type of cataract

　短期培養を実施し水晶体上皮細胞の生理活性を反映しうる上皮細胞の増殖能を，前極白内障・皮質白内障・全白内障について調査した。そして各々の白内障水晶体でその上皮細胞増殖能を検討すると，前極白内障では皮質・全白内障と比較して増殖能の低下が認められた。この結果から，前極白内障の限局した混濁は上皮細胞の生理活性低下により引き起こされるのではないかと推測され，今回の調査が前極白内障の発生メカニズムを明らかにするうえで意義あるものと考えられる。

We cultured the epithelial cells of the crystalline lens obtained during cataract surgery, in order to evaluate the growth potential of the cells. The specimen for culture was obtained from 7 eyes each with anterior polar, cortical and total cataract. Weobserved reduced growth potentials in epithelial cells from anterior polar cataract when compared with the other two cataract types. The findings seemed to imply that a peculiar process is involved in the cataractogenesis of anterior polar cataract with limited lens opacity.
