Abstract. Purpose:To report impairment of vision due to chalazion in two cases with past history of LASIK. Cases:Both were females aged 42 and 55 years respectively. They sought medical advice for blurring of vision in the right eye each. Both had received LASIK in both eyes more than 10 years before. Findings:Visual acuity in the affected eye was 1.2 and 0.9 without correction. One case showed corneal folds and the other case showed regular astigmatism by-3 diopters in the right eye. Both cases showed chalazion in the upper eyelid in the right eye. Excision of chalazion was followed by normalization of cornea after 2 weeks in one case and by decrease of astigmatism after one week in the other. Both reported disappearance of blurring. Conclusion:These cases illustrate that chalazion in the upper eyelid was the major cause of corneal folds and astigmatism, resulting in subjective blurring of vision. Eyes with past history of LASIK may be liable to corneal lesion in the presence of chalazion in the upper eyelid.
