ガス白内障

Cataract induced by intravitreal gas

　硝子体手術後にガスタンポナーデを施行した有水晶体眼54眼中7眼に一過性白内障を，34眼に不可逆性白内障を認めた。一過性白内障は全例後嚢下に生じ，羽毛様の混濁か鱗様空泡の集簇を呈した。ガス白内障は長期滞留ガスを使用し，水晶体後面の残存硝子体が少ない場合にその発症頻度が高いものと考えられる。

We evaluated a consecutive series of 54 eyes aftervitrectomy with additional intravitreal gastamponade. Pure air was intravitreally injected in13 eyes. The other 42 eyes received SF₆ rangingfrom 20% to 40% in concentration. Transient cata-ract developed in 7 eyes and irreversible cataract in34 eyes. The transient cataract appeared either assubcapsular vacuoles or subcapsular featherlyopacities. Gas-induced cataract was more likely tooccur when using long-acting gas and when little orno vitreous remained in the retrolental space.
