眼瞼基底細胞癌の液体窒素冷凍凝固療法

Treatment of basal cell carcinoma of the eyelid with liquid nitrogen cryocoagulation

　基底細胞癌は，他の悪性腫瘍に比し経過は緩慢で転移は少なく，局所侵襲性であるが再発傾向がある．最近，基底細胞癌に対する冷凍凝固術が，外科的療法と同じ程度の低い再発率を示すとの報告がある．著者らは60歳女性と88歳女性の2例の眼瞼基底細胞癌患者に液体窒素冷凍凝固療法を行い，組織学的検査を行いつつ経過観察し，再発なく機能的にも美容的にも良好な結果が得られたので報告する．

Basal cell carcinoma has a general tendency to follow a choronic course and to rarely metastasize. It may cause local tissue destruction and recur after inade-quate treatment. Liquid nitrogen cryocoagulation prom-ises to be of value for treating basal cell carcinoma because of lesser insult and low rate of recurrence comparable to surgical excision.

We treated basal cell carcinoma of the eyelid in two females, aged 60 and 80 years respectively, with liquid nitrogen cryocoagulation. The tumor mass was coagulated by applying the tip of the cryo probe, which was cooled to -70℃, for one minute. This treatment was repeated 10 times over a period of 14 weeks in both cases. The therapeutic results were satisfactory follow-ing the 8 months post--treatment from functional, cos-metic and pathological viewpoints.
