　長期人工透析患者の眼障害に関する研究の一環として，透析期間6ヵ月以上の慢性腎不全患者136例272眼を対象として視力障害について検討し，次のような結果を得た。

（1）86％は0.5以上の視力を保持していたが，7.7％に0.1未満の高度視力障害が認められた。

（2）視力障害の原因は，視力0.1未満では糖尿病性網膜症が48％，中心静脈閉塞症が24％を占め，視力0.1〜0.4では糖尿病性網膜症が38％，黄斑変性が31％を占めた。

（3）症例中，一過性の視力低下，色覚異常，ERGの消失をきたした例を2例経験した。

We evaluated the visual disturbance in 272 eyes (136 cases) with chronic renal failure undergoing repeated hemodialysis for 6 months or more.

Eighty-six percent of the cases showed good visual acuity levels of 0.5 or more, while 7.7% of the cases showed severe visual loss of less than 0.1. In cases with visual impairment of less than 0.1, proliferative diabetic retinopathy was responsible for 48% and central retinal vein occlusion for 24% of the cases.
