ラ環視標による最小視角の測定成績について

The smallest visual angle as measured by the Landolt's ring

　日本人の健常視力は1.2〜1.5であると各成書に述べられてある。

　併し私が海軍服役の間に，兵員の身体検査をすると，裸眼視力2.0のものが可なり多い。その中には当然視力2.0以上も含まれている筈である。そこで健常視力の上限の様子を知るために，最小視角の測定を兵員約1400名について試み，興味ある成績を得たので述べようと思う。

About 2618 nomal eyes the smallest visual angle was measured by the 0.2 Landolt's ring. In the test it was found that the average of the smallest visual angle was 23.8″ of arc. The "minimum separable" was estimated at 15.6″ of arc (4 eyes).
