1．緒論

　impression tonometerの接眼部は足板と杆よりなる。従来の形式では，杆に錘を乗せて，杆と錘の重量で，杆が角膜を圧迫する場合に，杆の下端が足板よりどれだけ下降するかを，目盛で読み又は記録した。しかし予め杆の下端が足板より下へ出る部分の長さを定めて，足板と杆を互に動かないように固定する。こうしてから被検眼に此眼圧計を乗せる場合の杆にかかる力を測定しても眼内圧を知る事が出来る。本論文に述べる眼圧計は此原理を応用したものである。電気tonometerとしては，既にThiel氏^1）（1928） Müller氏（1949），高木氏等（1950）^2），植村氏等（1952）^4），大塚氏等（1953）^6）のもの等があるが，著者等のtono-meterも電気的記録装置を備えて居り，堅牢で故障が少なく，眼内圧の可測範囲は500mmHg以上に及ぶ。

In the authors' new tonometer, the plunger is clamped in such a way as to have its lower end at a specified distance (to be read on a graduated scale) below the footplate. Then the instrument is placed upon the suject's eye, and the variation of the load on the plunger is recorded on moving paper. The unbalanced potential appearing in the Wheat-stone's bridge formed by the advance wires in the pickup actuates, after electronic ampli-fication, the pen of the automatic null balance type indicator and recorder.
