Measurement of ocular-axe using an X-ray photograph after retrobulbar injection of air

I．緒言

　屈折状態を構成する主な要素は，角膜および水晶体の屈折力と，眼軸の長さである。そのうちで近視および屈折異常の原因を知るために最も必要なものは，眼軸でなければならない。しかし生体の眼軸長測定については，今日まで良い方法が無かつたので，あまり行なわれていない。したがつて眼軸長と屈折状態の関係を厳密に知る事が困難で有つた。

　従来発表されている生体眼軸長の報告は，多くは間接に，角膜および水晶体の屈折力より算出されたものである。しかるに，水晶体の光学的効果が，精密には測定出来ないのであるから，それを用いて算出された眼軸長が，甚だ確実性を欠くのも止むを得なかつた。Stenström^1）や，若月氏^15）大塚氏等^2），大野氏^14）等が行つた，X線視覚によつて，直接生体眼軸長を測定する方法は，この方面に於ける一大進歩を促したものと云えよう。これを用いて，立派な研究を行なわれた大塚教授を指導者とする東京医歯大の諸氏には，深甚な敬意を捧げる。しかしこの方法も多少の欠点を有しないわけではない。

An X-ray photograph was taken after an injection of air into Tenon's sac and after put-ting on a corneal lens in front of the cornea as contrast media, and a length of eye-axe of the living body was measured objectively.

(1) Volume of injected air was 5.0cc.

(2) A corneal lens, including tin powder, with a diameter of 11.5mm had the radius of curvature coincided with the front curvature of the cornea.

(3) Condition of X-ray photography: Siemens Rotarics tube; Voltage: 64kV; Current in-tensity: 100mA; time: 1,2sec; distance : 100cm;

(4) The length of the axes of 14 eyes ranged between 22.9mm and 33.1mm.
